This magnolia, like its other species, is widely adaptable to many soil types. However, it will thrive in natural and artificial mulches. The acidic decomposition of the mulch allows the roots to better utilize the natural minerals in the soil. Little pruning is necessary. Provides sufficient shade for patios once established.
