This plant is commonly found along the coast of Gulf of Mexico in Veracruz, Mexico. The trunk is marked with scars from old leaf petioles. Its growth accelerates once the plant establishes.
This plant is low maintenance and grows best in well-drained, moist soil. The plant does great in either sun or shade. They are drought-tolerant and commonly grown as houseplants. Excellent for subtropical environments or containers in offices.
